It always amazes me how much getting married affects the student loan strategy an attorney should pursue.

For example, I’m working with a new attorney client who’s getting married next year and, after crunching the numbers together, it’s clear that she should no longer be on the REPAYE program.

Specifically, we discovered that if she switches to the PAYE program and files her taxes separately, it will save her about $81,000 – a huge win!

Alternatively, often times marriage causes refinancing to be a more cost-effective solution than an income-driven plan.
